I'm an award-winning, classically-trained music producer, composer, arranger, songwriter and performer from Wales, UK. I have over 30 years experience creating and performing world-class music.
I've been acclaimed by producers like Tony Visconti (David Bowie), and Simon Napier-Bell (Wham!), and have worked alongside Neil McLellan (The Prodigy) and Hugo Nicholson (Primal Scream, Radiohead).
My clients are songwriters, producers, film makers and games designers, and range from complete beginners to YouTube stars and chart-topping professionals. I have a MA in Music from The University of Oxford.
I work in Logic Pro using a mix of live and virtual instruments. I play a JT Variax modelling guitar and a Takamine acoustic. Virtual libraries are primarily EastWest and Kontakt. Synths and pianos are EastWest and Analog Lab plus many others.
Q: Are there any specific albums or songs that have had a profound influence on your musical journey?
A: In A Bar Under The Sea by dEUS is the album that got me into songwriter and production. Though my all-time favourite album is Electric Warrior by T.Rex. Most recently I've been enjoying Reflections by Sam Art (a recent client).
Q: Are there any specific projects you have been a part of that you are most proud of?
A: I was super proud to work on an album by tribute band T.Rextasy. My production garnered praise from the legendary Tony Visconti. Best email ever.
Q: Can you describe your favorite project to date?
A: My favourite to date was arranging and producing the soundtrack and songs for a brand new musical called Riding Time With No Hands. It culminated in me being invited to Florida to see the launch - the trip of a lifetime.
Q: How do you manage time and prioritize your music-related tasks?
A: I'm a super organised person, and have lots of spreadsheets, calendars and filing systems to help me keep on top of the myriad of jobs and tasks that relate to my work. This sets me aside I think - many clients have said I'm the most organised and communicative person they've worked with!
Q: Can you share a memorable encounter or collaboration with another musician?
A: I recently worked on a soundtrack for a YouTube mini series alongside Neil McLellan, The Prodigy's producer. It was a real honour - I always loved his work on those Prodigy albums, and to get to collaborate with him was an amazing experience.
Q: Has there ever been any specific feedback you've received that you hold dearly?
A: I was an orchestral performer before I became a producer and arranger. Conductor Christopher Adey taught me to concentrate on the performance - the notes will take care of themselves. I didn't understand it at the time, but now it's something deeply embedded in my music.
